ABOUT THE JOB:

The Senior Product Engineer is responsible for all design engineering and related duties for current products and enhancements, as well as new products. The role will require proficiency in force and stress analysis, CAE/FEA, manufacturing processes, statistical means to analyze design and quality and CAD.  This is a highly technical role that will contribute to the entire design and production process of these products.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Product Design – work with internal/external engineering resources to organize and drive PDP deliverables across engineering, design, manufacturing, and safety.  Perform Force/Stress Calculations.  Design for Manufacturing utilizing statistical analysis of process variation
  • Modeling/Drafting/Documentation – Create detailed 3D/2D Part and Assembly specifications.  Maintain appropriate documentation of design and program activities with an understanding of Product Lifecyle Management (PLM).  Create detailed Bill of Material, tooling, fixturing and measurement documentation. 
  • Product Definition - work with Product Management to translate customer and internal requirements into measurable product and component specifications that deliver critical to quality performance.
  • Prototyping/Installs – Detailed analytical design review and subsequent prototypes.  Work with offsite partners and the Product Management team to identify/source components, deploy prototypes on site.
  • Testing - develop product test plans in conjunction with various functions to ensure product is safe, repeatable, and meets use cases / applications.  Test plan developed will verify the prototypes an production designs to ensure they meet CTQs
  • Program Management - lead internal/external engineering resources to organize and drive PDP deliverables across engineering, design, manufacturing, and operations.
  • Intellectual Property – assist Product Management and Legal team to draft and pursue and intellectual property opportunities.  Also, understand and vet and clear similar intellectual property and provide guidance on the claims associated
  • Budgeting - work with Program Management to develop and achieve component and product level costs, as well as tooling, equipment, and schedules

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline; 3~5 years of relevant experience
  • Associates Degree in Engineering or related discipline; 10+ years of relevant experience


Required Skills and Abilities: 

  • Solidworks (or similar)
  • MiniTab or equivalent
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance ASME Y14.5


Work Environment: 

  • Corporate Office and on-site prototyping/install as required.
