ABOUT THE JOB:
The Assistant Sales Manager will lead and support the Inside Sales Representatives who serve as the transactional sales arm of WillScot. This role is responsible for implementing initiatives to improve the customer experience while coaching, training, and developing the team in a fast-paced environment to exceed company sales expectations. The Assistant Sales Manager will maintain excellent service standards, respond efficiently to customer escalations, strive for high customer satisfaction, and uphold Williams Scotsman’s Core Values of Collaboration, Empowerment, Excellence, and Innovation.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Safety/Environment:
• Contribute to a productive working environment by providing exceptional customer service.
Sales Support:
• Lead the team by example through work ethic, effort, customer awareness, and focus on repeat business.
• Assist with department coordination, interviewing, developing, motivating, and retaining staff.
• Meet regularly with the inside sales team to identify areas for improvement, share information on current deals in the pipeline, and ensure alignment.
• Attend department meetings and provide constructive feedback on daily activities affecting department success.
• Promote revenue generation and product penetration with all customer interactions.
• Ensure CRM is up to date with accurate information and opportunities.
• Assist with training new employees and implementing new policies and procedures.
• Serve as a backup for inside sales as needed.
• Work with managers to design initiatives or programs to help SSC Reps achieve their KPIs.
Customer Focus:
• Use Net Promoter System (NPS) feedback to provide timely correspondence and address internal issues.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with external and internal customers at all levels.
• Track KPI goals and objectives, making adjustments when needed to stay on track.
• Follow up with every customer to minimize the risk of losing opportunities.
Abilities and Other Requirements:
The role requires working in a professional office environment and using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines.
• Strong self-starter and team player, able to work across departments with enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
• Well-organized, capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Build sustainable relationships and trust with customers through open, proactive communication.
• Foster strong relationships with staff, Commercial, and Operational Excellence teams.
• Provide accurate, valid, and complete information using the right tools and methods.
• Handle customer complaints, provide timely solutions, and follow up to ensure resolution.
• Maintain records of customer interactions, process accounts, and file necessary documents.
• Follow communication procedures, guidelines, and policies.
• Exhibit high attention to detail.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• College degree preferred,with 3 - 5 years of leadership role.
• Strong ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships across all levels and departments.
• Proven leadership in a sales environment with the ability to develop, mentor, and empower the inside sales team while fostering a culture of accountability.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Salesforce.com or other CRM platforms.
• Capable of analysing data to provide performance insights and skilled in creating high-quality PowerPoint presentations for customer interactions and senior management.
