ABOUT THE JOB:

The Collections Director is responsible for leading and managing the collections department to ensure the timely recovery of outstanding receivables. This role involves developing and implementing collections strategies, managing a team of collections specialists, and collaborating with other departments to optimize collections processes and improve cash flow.  The current department is approximately 100 employees with presence in several shared service centers throughout US and Canada.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE INCLUDE:

Best-in-Class Collections: 

  • Develop and implement a best-in-class collections organization, including tools, processes, training programs, and talent acquisition strategies through systemization. 
  • Lead initiatives to enhance collections capabilities and drive operational efficiencies across the organization through systemization. 
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.

Collections Operations Management: 

  • Develop and deploy scorecards and data driven KPIs to measure collector and customer performance. 
  • Oversee daily collections activities to ensure timely and efficient recovery of outstanding receivables.
  • Manage complex and high-value accounts directly as needed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key clients and stakeholders.

Strategic Collections Management

  • Drive automation and digitalization of the collections process, collaborating closely with IT, Operations, Accounting, and other relevant departments. 
  • Prepare regular reports on collections performance for senior management.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis.
  • Implement digital solutions to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and sustainability in collections operations. 

Leadership Development & Succession Planning: 

  • Collaborate with leadership and teams across the organization to implement programs for employee retention, succession planning, and talent development. 
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and growth to prepare future leaders within the Collections function. 
  • Recruit, train, and supervise collections staff.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching and feedback.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment.

SKILLS + EXPERIENCE:

  • 8+ years of experience in Collections and/or Operations leadership role. 
    • Other Shared Service experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or business is preferred.
  • Demonstrated results in growing matrix-based organizations, acquisitions, and process transformation,
  • Strong understanding of industry regulations, standards, and recommended practices as they pertain to our business. 
  • Proven organizational leadership and negotiation skills.   Demonstrated experience in problem solving, creativity, strategic thinking, fostering cooperation and teamwork. 
  • Exceptional networking and customer service skills with both internal and external customers. 
  • Ability to demonstrate professional two-way communication with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple, changing priorities in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, while maintaining attention to detail. 
  • Strong knowledge working with Collections platforms.
    • SAP and GetPaid preferred experience preferred.
