ABOUT THE JOB:

The primary focus of this position is to ensure the WillScot Units are successfully delivered and picked-up from customer sites, ensuring the drivers are following all safety and DOT regulations. This role will supervise the team of drivers and assign their daily duties.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Promotes safety first for all areas of dispatch. Ensures drivers are following all safety policies and procedures and will conduct safety meetings.
  • Manage the day to day branch and operations yard drivers for multiple branch locations, which include:
    • Scheduling and assigning drivers and vehicles to convey Units
    • Reviews next day/week deliveries and pick-ups and develops a dispatch plan
    • Enters all assignments into database (Descartes)
    • Notifies drivers of daily assignments
    • Tracks Drivers out on delivery/pick-up
    • Assists Drivers in troubleshooting when necessary
  • Sets daily and weekly priories for the team
  • Conducts performance discussions and trainings
  • Ensures Drivers have collected all appropriate documentation and signatures related to delivery/pick-up of units and offices and will work with the Driver and Customer if the unit/office is damaged
  • Communicates with customers to assist in scheduling daily/weekly activities
    • Informs customer of delivery/pick-up times
    • Answers customer questions about delivery/pick-up
  • Maintains daily log files and preventative maintenance files and records the information into the appropriate systems. Ensures all daily/weekly/monthly paperwork is completed, recorded and filed
  • Maintains branch's budgeted trucking profit margin
  • Coordinates with outside vendors regarding trucking and deliveries. This will include outside hauling services, as needed, and assisting Drivers with obtaining required annual, monthly and daily city/state transportation permits.
  • Works with branch and corporate sales to determine driver schedule availability, and when available, can schedule deliveries/pick-ups outside of current dispatch schedule
  • Other duties as assigned

  • GPS and tracking software

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Yes, Drivers and in some branches Assistant Dispatcher

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, some college preferred
  • 2-4 years’ experience with dispatching preferred
  • Familiar with standard concepts of scheduling and dispatching
  • 1-2 years of Customer Service Experience
  • Ability to multi-task effectively
  • Knowledge of DOT and state specific safety regulations
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to problem solve
  • Communicate clearly: verbal and written
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Computer, telephone, radio and electronic office equipment
  • MS Office Suite
  • GPS and tracking software
