ABOUT THE JOB:

A Certified HVAC Technician with AC313A and Gas G1 certifications is responsible for the installation, maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. The technician is also authorized to handle complex gas-fired equipment and may supervise junior gas technicians. This is a field-based role requiring travel, technical expertise, safety compliance, and customer service excellence.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and service commercial and residential HVAC-R systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical components, electrical systems, compressors, condensers, and evaporators.
  • Ensure systems are operating in compliance with the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) regulations.
  • Perform system balancing, airflow diagnostics, and refrigerant recovery and handling per EPA and Canadian regulations.
  • Independently install and service gas appliances
  • Diagnose and repair gas leaks, combustion issues, and regulator problems.
  • Conduct pressure testing and safety checks on high-capacity systems.

 

Multidisciplinary Trade Support

  • Perform basic electrical diagnostics, component replacements, and wiring corrections.
  • Handle plumbing-related duties such as condensate drain installations, piping, and basic water line connections.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.

 

Field Service & Travel

  • Provide on-site service to customer locations, covering a wide regional territory.
  • Willing to travel frequently and stay overnight when required to complete jobs.
  • Maintain a company vehicle and ensure compliance with driving policies and safety procedures.

 

In-Branch Support (as needed)

  • When field calls are low, assist with in-shop servicing of modular buildings, ground-level offices, cold storage units, and Flex units.
  • Support site preparations, system testing, and product readiness for dispatch.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education and Certifications Required
  • High School diploma required or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license 
  • AC313A – Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic
    • Authorizes full work scope on all HVAC-R installations and repairs.
    • Certified to handle refrigerants and pressurized systems under Canadian regulations.
  • Gas Technician 1 (G1)
    • Permits unsupervised work on all gas-fired equipment, including large commercial/industrial systems.
    • Ability to supervise G2/G3 licensed personnel.

 

Key Skills and Attributes

  • Proven technical competence and mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong understanding of Technical Standards and Safety Authority – TSSA and Canadian Standards Association B149. 
  • Exceptional diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service approach.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic and field-based environment.
  • Min experiences level of 5 years

Base Wage Range: 27.04-45.07
Individual rates are based on a variety of factors such as degrees or certifications, skill-level and years of experience, and include considerations such as expected overtime and variable compensation pay such as bonus or commission.
